Leap into the void. Art Beyond Matter.  >  Void - Room 2

Ann Veronica Janssens

Magic Mirror #2, 2013

From the late Seventies, Ann Veronica Janssens (Folkestone, Great Britain, 1956) explores the sensory perception of the real, questioning the concept of void and the possibility of dematerializing artworks. The artist creates environmental installations and sculptures through intangible media, including light and artificial fog, and materials of which she studied physical properties, such as glass and dichroic film. These materials, in particular, serve as the basis for the series of artworks Magic Mirror. In this artwork, several colors (i.e., specific wavelengths of light) are filtered through the materials, generating a chromatic toning that disorients the viewer, witnessing an unstable and ever-changing reality.
