I Came And Went As A Ghost Hand, 2015; Warm; Mechsuit Study, 2020; Fat nuisance (forgetting), 2020

Rachel Rossin (West Palm Beach, USA, 1987) uses traditional media and new technologies to explore the relationship between physical and digital reality. The two paintings have been generated by an artificial intelligence system (GAN) trained to compose images from a data set of photos from the artist's childhood and everyday life. Rossin then transposes the generated pictures on canvas using airbrushes and paintbrushes. This last step returns materiality to the images after losing it during the informatic elaboration. The same juxtaposition between analogic and digital, material and immaterial, characterizes I Came And Went As A Ghost Hand. In this artwork, the viewers can experience the artist's personal spaces, recreated in virtual reality from digitally manipulated images.
