Rebecca Allen (USA, 1953), a pioneer of digital art, creates Life Without Matter, an iconic title for this exhibition, in which she transfers the myth of Plato's cave into virtual reality. The user is invited into the cave through a headset and controller, interacting with the virtual world. Their shadow is projected onto a screen in the room, revealing their actions to the public. In turn, the public can observe this world, made of shadows on the background of an embracing architecture, virtually immersed in vegetation. Through this interaction, the artwork gives tangibility to the simulation, questioning our perception of physical and virtual reality.
