Errorism, 2021

Agnieszka Kurant (Łódź, Poland, 1978) uses her works to explore the boundary between natural and artificial, questioning the future of creativity and work in a world increasingly guided by artificial intelligence. For the holographic installation Errorism, the artist has trained an algorithm (GPT3), feeding it with the description of her works. The algorithm, a generator of texts based on human language, created original descriptions of artworks the artist might make in the future. These descriptions are then visualized in holographic form, a technique simulating the presence of a physical object that does not exist, if not as mere information. Kurant reflects on the relationship between individual and collective intelligence and the role of errors, as crucial in the evolutionary processes as in the creative ones.
