The reality we experience is increasingly defined by the data flow we are always in contact with. This circumstance has substantially contributed to discrediting the idea of Art as a contemplatable object, as the early Twentieth-century avant-garde already suggested. Many artists across different generations believe artworks are fluid and transitory entities, holding “immaterial” qualities even when visibly connected to the Object. In particular, some feel artworks simulate the flow of things, time, and their disappearance. Conversely, others state that artworks incarnate a material dimension, even when their substance is imperceptible.
