The artworks from the series Infinity Net are described by Yayoi Kusama (Matsumoto, Japan, 1929), an artist of Japanese descent, as paintings “without beginning, end, or center”. Patterns of graphic marks envelop the void, interconnected threads holding what would otherwise be dispersed. By meticulously covering the surface, the repetition of a reticular pattern leaves visible parts of the canvas. This allows our gaze to concentrate on positive or negative, as our focus continuously oscillates between full and empty, between what emerges and what seems absent.
