Formally close to Castellani and Bonalumi’s extroflected artworks, Fabio Mauri’s (Rome, 1926- 2009) Schermi (“Displays”) stems from different research assumptions. The title modifies the artwork’s status from painting to display. Its characterizing white does not seek to represent the void or the absence of matter but rather a lack of content and visual data, imagining emptiness as the space of every possible human projection.
