The research carried out by Francesco Lo Savio (Rome, 1935 – Marseille, France, 1963) stems from his interest in painting and optical-perceptual phenomenons. In a short time, thanks to his architectural education, his research transformed into an articulate dimension in which module, structure, and environment can dialogue. In 1962, he created Articolazioni totali, cubic casings of white cement containing a flexed metallic black plate, in which emptiness plays a fundamental role as the external space compenetrates the artwork’s space.
