The investigation on digital materiality by Manuel Rossner (Heilbronn, Germany, 1989) characterizes the series of 3D models – each with its physical counterpart – that includes Surprisingly Yellow #2. It was designed by the artist through a VR headset and virtual brush and materialized into a curved wall sculpture through CNC milling. Analogously, augmented reality in the series Spatial Painting – available as a filter on GAMeC's Instagram account –involves lines appearing as freely placeable sculptural formations. By exploring them, the viewer's gaze can venture inside the artwork, taking a usually hidden perspective and highlighting the potential of new media.
