Richard Estes (Kewanee, USA, 1932) is one of the leading exponents of the American hyperrealism movement. His paintings appear as windows opened on a world fully shrunken to its visual data. In Storefront Reflections Miami, the painting's multiple perspectives reflected in the windows alternate with the details composing the scene in the foreground, visually representing a reality rich in details hardly visible to the naked eye. What appears as an objective, photographic rendition of reality is, in truth, a grand illusion, inviting us to an exercise of interpretation.
